Whenever Vicki and I are at a trade show a question we usually get is “Why Port Angeles?” Making wine on the North Olympic Peninsula of Washington State seems a bit out of the ordinary. Actually many wines in Washington are made on the “wet” west side of the Cascades from grapes on the “dry” east side. Our location may be some distance from the grapes, but ocean breezes on the Strait of Juan de Fuca make for cool moderate weather and are ideal for making wine – just not growing the grapes we like using.

Besides our location, our wines are distinctive for the pedigree of the grapes. We are fortunate to have long-term relationships with several very high quality vineyards.  Our vineyard partners include Crawford Vineyard, Sagemoor Farms(Dionysus, Weinbau and Gamache vineyards), LeTendre Vineyards, Upland Vineyards, Hattrup Vineyards and Destiny Ridge.

Our wines are known for balance, intensity, and complexity that complement a wide range of foods and honor our vineyard partners’ passion for quality and individuality. We focus on red and white Bordeaux grape varieties, adding varieties such as syrah, viognier, and tempranillo. Different lots of grapes are fermented with different yeasts and techniques to enhance the vineyard and varietal characteristics present. Both French and American oak is used. The proprietary red blend is of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot and varies in proportion with the vintage.

Camaraderie Cellars is committed to making small lots of premium wine. We currently produce about 3,000 cases and have been fortunate to place our wines in some of North America’s best restaurants and wine shops.

We hope you enjoy our wine and share our philosophy of sharing life’s best gifts.

Directions:
The winery is located five minutes west of downtown Port Angeles just south of Highway 101 at 334 Benson Road. Take Highway 101 west; turn left on Benson Road. Proceed 1/4 mile to 334 where you will see the winery among the trees on the right hand side.
