The 14th Annual Dungeness River Festival& Driftwood Art Show
Every year, local, state, federal, tribal, and non-profit groups provide interactive exhibits and walks for the whole family that examine and celebrate the watershed that keeps the Sequim-Dungeness Valley alive – and that’s not all! The Dungeness River Festival also serves up live music, food and drink, crafts, and more!
Here are just a few of this year’s fun-filled highlights to look for:
Friday:
10:30am and 12:30pm – Sound Waves (Five Acre School) – Marimba music that makes you wanna MOVE!
2:30pm – Drums, Baskets, and Stories of the Jamestown S’Klallam People with Tribal Elder Elaine Grinnell.
Saturday:
10:00am – Join the Jamestown S’Klallam drummers & singers and take part in a traditional welcome ceremony
11am – The Young Fiddlers
2:30pm – Port Angeles Community Drum Circle
But wait – did I mention the Olympic Driftwood Sculptors 5th Anniversary Art Show?
The Olympic Driftwood Sculptors have gotten in the habit of holding a Driftwood Art Show in conjunction with the Dungeness River Festival every year – and boy, are we glad! The Driftwood Art Show features sculptures by many artists, including “Aquarium,” a display of marine-related pieces.
Artists will be demonstrating their talents by working on pieces throughout the two days of the show. Revealing their artistic process, they’ll field any related questions you might have.
The Driftwood Boutique will be offering various driftwood accessories for sale and attendees of the show will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a driftwood scuplture.
